Raised bog is a unique natural object. It is formed in conditions of excessive moisture due to precipitation — rain and snow.
A typical feature of such swamps is the convex shape of the terrain: it occurs due to the fact that sphagnum mosses grow faster in the central part than at the edges, gradually creating an elevation with alternating ridges, hummocks, hollows and small lakes.
The raised bog s show a noticeable diversity depending on the prevailing vegetation: in some cases, dense thickets of sphagnum mosses dominate, in others, vast areas are occupied by fluff, cranberry, rosemary, and sundew; in some places there are rare dwarf pines or birches that form a sparse tree tier.
The ecosystems of the upper swamps not only support the hydrological regime of landscapes, but also serve as real reserves of flora and fauna, preserving many rare and vulnerable species. Thus, the upper marshes are not just an original natural object, but also an invaluable place that allows you to feel a deep connection with nature, get acquainted with unique representatives of the plant and animal world and fully realize the importance of preserving these fragile ecosystems for the future of the planet.
