«Oxbow Lakes and Backwaters» is a picturesque excursion object that opens up the wonderful world of the old riverbeds of the Pripyat. On the territory of the national park there are more than 500 such bodies of water – quiet, mirror-calm lakes, preserved where the river once flowed.
Among them are lakes «Dolgyi Zasukh», «Lukoe», «Staraya Reka» and other ancient lakes that amaze with their pristine beauty: a smooth water surface decorated with white and yellow water lilies, mysterious sunken giant oaks, as if frozen in time. The route allows you to fully appreciate the breathtaking views of the water expanses: the winding outlines of old riverbeds, mirror surfaces reflecting the sky and coastal vegetation, secluded coves and sandbanks. These places give a sense of untouched wilderness, where time passes slowly, and each turn of the backwater opens up a new picturesque landscape – a reminder of the centuries-old work of the river that shaped the appearance of Polesie.
