Floodplain meadows once stretched here, fed by the wild forest river Solomenka. In the 1960s and 1970s, its swampy floodplain was transformed into what is now the largest reservoir in Belovezhskaya Pushcha—Lyatskoye. Today, it’s difficult to distinguish from a natural lake. It has significantly enriched the Pushcha’s biological complexes, becoming a natural “home” for many species of birds, fish, reptiles, aquatic plants, insects and more.
