Mayak Mountain is the best viewpoint of the Braslav Lakes National Park, at the foot of which the Mayak Mountain ecological trail begins. This is a unique natural object located between Lakes Snudy and Strusta, from the top of which you can see exceptionally picturesque and magnificent natural landscapes and lake plains, with numerous islands and shallows. An observation tower was built in 2020 (entrance fee 5.00 Belarusian rubles). The ecological trail is 1.7 km long and includes 9 stops equipped with information stands.
Stop No. 1 presents the hydrological characteristics of Lake Strusta: its size, genetic type, oxygen regime, transparency and mineralization of the water.
At stop No. 2 you will get acquainted with the relief of the central part of the national park formed by glacial activity. As a result of the complex processes that occur during the melting of the glacier, positive and negative landforms were formed, among which the basins of lakes Strusta and Snudy and the Kama complex headed by Mount Mayak can be distinguished.
Stop No. 3 presents the hydrological characteristics of Lake Snudy: its size, genetic type, oxygen regime, transparency and mineralization of the waters.
Stop No. 4 presents information about the Perevoloka Peninsula, its vegetation, human development and current state.
Stop No. 5 presents information about wild plants that are included in the Red Book of the Republic of Belarus and are found here on the route.
Stop No. 6 presents information about the species of fish that live in lakes Strusta and Snudy.
At stop No. 7 you can get acquainted with representatives of the animal world of the national park.
Stop No. 8 provides information about the avifauna of the national park’s ecosystems.
At stop No. 9, you can learn about the boulders that are often found in the national park, their origin and appearance in the Braslav region.
