The Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve joined the international PAN Parks Foundation network, becoming a Wilderness partner. It received the Wilderness Diploma for ensuring the guaranteed protection of 27,204 hectares of wilderness within the protected area. The certificate was issued on May 10, 2013.

The Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve has received a certificate of compliance with the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) forest management and chain of custody certification standards for the period ending December 19, 2020. The certificate was issued on January 20, 2015.

The Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve has the status of a State Nature Conservation Institution (Order of the Department of Nature Protection of the Republic of Belarus No. 148 of June 21, 2001, Unified State Register No. 300038723, Decision No. 480 of August 6, 2001).

The State Nature Conservation Institution “Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve” was established to manage the natural complex located within its territory.

According to the Law of the Republic of Belarus “On Specially Protected Natural Areas,” the reserve is a specially protected natural area declared to ensure the natural course of natural processes, preserve valuable natural complexes and objects in their natural state, and study them.

The main objectives of the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve are:

Preserving valuable natural complexes and sites in their natural state and preventing changes in their condition as a result of anthropogenic impact (including measures to regulate the spread and population of invasive alien wild animals and invasive plants, which are carried out based on the reserve’s management plan);
Maintaining conditions that ensure fire safety in the reserve (creating and maintaining firebreaks, conducting fire suppression measures);
Preventing and eliminating emergency situations and their consequences;
Conducting comprehensive monitoring of the reserve’s ecosystems, as well as other types of environmental monitoring;
Conducting scientific research;
Environmental education (including conducting educational and educational excursions along routes (ecological trails) defined by the reserve’s management plan, with an organized group of no more than 20 visitors accompanied by employees of the state nature conservation agency);
protection of the reserve and implementation of control (supervisory) activities related to visiting the reserve.
